Flight Attendant Stephanie Williams Goes Above & Beyond

great job thought bubble

United passed along this wonderful note that they received from a passenger regarding Flight Attendant Stephanie Williams.  Stephanie went to extraordinary lengths to return a special toy that one of our youngest passengers left behind in the gate area at IAD.

I was recently traveling for the holidays to the Washington D.C area. On my return flight home on UA3395 from Dulles (IAD) to Columbus, OH (CMH) my Daughter (5 y/o) left her favorite plush dog (Alexa) at the Dulles boarding gate by accident (Gate 4C). She was completely devastated!   Once we got in the air and refreshments were served I talked to the Flight Attendant, Stephanie Williams, and explained my situation. I asked if she was able to contact the gate we just left in order to track down our lost dog. She informed me that she would be returning after our flight to CMH. Oh man, I was so happy to hear that, but was still very apprehensive. Holiday weekend at Dulles airport… need I say more? We exchanged contact info and convinced my daughter Alexa must be in our checked luggage.   After I returned home and my daughter realized Alexa was not in our luggage, she was even more crushed. A few hours passed and my wife and I did our best to console her. I received a message on my phone. A picture message of Alexa!

I quickly ran into my daughters room and showed her. She was so excited!   I replied back with my address and Ms.Williams said she would mail her ASAP. Four short (to me anyway!) days later a package arrived in the mail. I instantly knew what it was. I let Kennedy open it. Words cannot describe the joy and excitement she had!   Stephanie Williams definitely went above and beyond that day. I can only imagine the people she certainly had to deal with that whole week. She could have easily brushed off my little trivial request and referred me to the lost and found.   I am so happy to have had her as our flight attendant and grateful for what she did. She made my daughters day.   Thank you United Airlines, and Thank You Stephanie Williams!

Stephanie, thanks for going above and beyond the call of duty to make this little girl’s day!   Stephanie will be entered in the fourth quarter Above & Beyond contest and is in the running to win a $50 Visa gift card.

I hope we all can feel this level of performance, travel is such a misserable experience any more that it’s even more important to try to go above and beyond when we can? Nice job, good story!!
